What is Google AdWords?

Search Engine Marketing can be performed using a variety of methods, the most popular and widely regarded as the most successful method for businesses is Google AdWords.

But what is Google AdWords?

Google AdWords involves placing text and image based advertisements on the Google search and display networks.  These advertisements prominently appear above and to the right of the organic search results and throughout the thousands of websites that are affiliated with the Google display network when people search for keywords or phrases.  You may have recognised these throughout your search adventures as ‘sponsored links’.

These advertisements are charged on a pay-per-click basis, which means you only pay up to your bidding price when someone actually clicks on your ad.

Using Google AdWords as a marketing option for your business to build awareness and revenue has many great advantages.

Most importantly is that AdWords offers a highly targeted and specific approach to online marketing.  Through targeting search terms and keywords that are most specific to your business and offerings, while also creating engaging and eye-catching ads, you can quickly increase your website’s online presence and revenue. Targeting can also be enhanced through geographically targeting where you want your ad to be viewed and at what times you want them to be made available to view.

The flexibility of using AdWords is also another reason why it is so popular.  Unlike print media, a digital medium provides the flexibility to quickly adjust your marketing campaign.  This could be used if your current marketing campaign is proving ineffective or if you wish to introduce a new product or service to the market.  AdWords also provides you the flexibility to pause or stop your campaign at any time.

Finally AdWords is one of the most measurable forms of marketing today, meaning the actual results and outcomes of a campaign can be analysed from day one of launch.  This can be done through your actual Google AdWords account as it includes both qualified data checking and traffic analysis.  You can clearly see how many people are viewing your ads, how many people are clicking on them and the profitability and revenue generated by each keyword.  One important aspect of this is also being able to see the return on investment you are specifically receiving from your AdWords campaigns.

Creating and managing an AdWords account can be done by yourself, although this may save you in management fees, putting it in the hands of AdWords Qualified Professionals will save you time, energy and risk of spending more than is needed which can quickly get out of control if you are not sure what you are doing.   Outsourcing your AdWords will ensure trends and movements in your keywords performance are constantly monitored and optimised to keep costs at a minimum and to ensure you are receiving the maximum return on investment possible with your campaigns.
